The Chairman of Invest Cyprus (Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency) Mr Michael P. Michael participated in the Investment Migration Forum, the most prestigious international forum of the global investment migration industry, which took place in Geneva, Switzerland, between 4-6 June.
The three-day event covered a variety of related subjects with the participation of academic, professional and government representatives from around the globe. The event was a valuable opportunity for networking with leading industry professionals, sharing views and insight on the latest developments regarding citizenship and residency programmes from around the globe
The Forum was organised by the Investment Migration Council (IMC), a worldwide association for investor immigration and citizenship-by-investment, representing leading stakeholders in the field. The IMC helps to enhance public understanding in this area and promotes education and high professional standards among its members.
Representing Invest Cyprus, Mr. Michael took part in a panel on “Immigration Landscape in Europe”, in the framework of which he analysed the recent modifications to the Cyprus Investment Programme. He also presented the positive and multidimensional impact of the programme in the economic growth of the country, especially in the recovery of the property market, according to IMF statistics.
The Chairman of the Organisation also participated in an open discussion that was held in relation to the future endeavours of the Investment Migration Council, as the representative of its member states’ interests in citizenship-by-investment related topics. The session was chaired by Mr Bruno L’ecuyer, CEO of IMC, with whom Mr Michael held a private meeting as well. During the meeting, the possibility of holding a specalised Forum organised by IMC in Cyprus was discussed.
On the sidelines of the Forum, Mr Michael held several meetings and important discussions with government officials and industry experts.
In his statements, Mr Michael underlined the importance of the event amidst an ongoing European and international discussion over citizenship-by-investment related topics and expressed Cyprus’ readiness to host the Forum in 2019.
